The MUSD Head Start and Early Learning program is supported 80% by federal funds and 20% in-kind. The in-kind includes parent and community volunteer time and services. The volunteer time and services are entered into the system as “dollars and cents” terms so that it can be counted towards the 20% of the total funding.
It is critical that parents record their time when they volunteer as it affects the funding of the program.
The parent volunteer time includes the following:
- Reading to your child at home
- Home lesson plans - Activities that can be done at home to strengthen home to school connections and encourage children to implement skills learned at school with home activities.
- Attendance in site parent meetings
- Participation in the Policy Council
- Volunteering and preparing materials at home for the teacher
- Volunteering in the classroom (once it is resumed)

El programa de MUSD Head Start and Early Learning se sustenta en un 80% con fondos federales y un 20% de In-Kind. El In-Kind incluye el tiempo y los servicios de los padres y voluntarios de la comunidad. El tiempo y los servicios de los voluntarios se ingresan en el sistema en términos de "dólares y centavos" para que puedan contarse hacia el 20% del financiamiento total.
Es fundamental que los padres registren su tiempo cuando se ofrecen como voluntarios, ya que afecta la financiación del programa.
El tiempo de los padres voluntarios incluye lo siguiente:
- Leerle a su hijo en casa
- Planes de lecciones en el hogar: actividades que se pueden hacer en el hogar para fortalecer las conexiones entre el hogar y la escuela y alentar a los niños a implementar las habilidades aprendidas en la escuela con actividades en el hogar.
- Asistencia a las reuniones de padres del sitio
- Participación en el Consejo de Políticas
- Voluntariado y preparación de materiales en casa para el profesor
- Voluntariado en el aula (una vez continue)
